Magic Tree House: Season of the Sandstorms

Author: Mary Pope Osborne

Illustrator: Sal Murdocca

Characters: Jack, Annie, Mamoon and Merlin.

Summary:

Jack and Annie were brother and sister. They helped a magician called Merlin. Every time when Merlin gave a mission to them they needed to follow it. Each time when they wished to go somewhere the treehouse will bring them there. This time Merlin told them to spread wisdom to the world. They needed to go to Baghdad to give Caliph the ruler of Baghdad a special book.

They met lots of problems. At the start of their journey they were in a desert, there was nothing. After met a friend called Mamoon, bandits had attacked them. When they were riding camels they met a sandstorm. After the sandstorm they couldn’t find their friend Mamoon. Their camels chewed their special book.

They used a magic rhymes book from their friend to solve the problems. Jack and Annie were humble, brave and honest so they can make friends with Mamoon. They found out that Mamoon was the Caliph. They gave the special book about wisdom to the Caliph. The Caliph’s men copied the book about wisdom by hand to share to the world.

I like this book because it taught me knowledge about camels, deserts and Arabic numerals. I will recommend this book to my classmates and the whole school.

“To succeed, you must be humble!”

Cathy and the Chocolate Factory

I hope I could get Mr. Willy Wonka's golden ticket,
I could pass the chocolate factory wicket.

I hope I could drink all the chocolate,
I'll leave only one droplet.

I hope I could ride the great glass elevator,
I will be happier than a singing alligator.

I hope my dream will come true,
Then I'll say "Yahoo!"
